Dental cleanings, or a dental hygiene clean, involve removing plaque and tartar that build up on your teeth over time. Saliva naturally contains calcium, which helps protect your teeth but also leads to a buildup of hard deposits that can look tooth-coloured, brown, or even black.

These hardened deposits, known as plaque and tartar, can’t be removed at home with regular brushing. That’s why professional cleanings are essential to keep your teeth free from harmful buildup and maintain good oral health.

1 Initial consultation

Our hygienist will ask about your medical history, dental background, and current oral hygiene routine to get a clear understanding and suggest any necessary changes.

2 Soft tissue assessment

Your gum health will be checked for signs of periodontal disease, and an oral cancer screening will be performed.

3 Treatment

Based on the exam, you’ll receive one of the following:

Dental hygiene clean: Removes tartar with an ultrasonic scaler and manual tools, followed by polishing to smooth the surface and reduce bacteria.

Air polish: Uses water, flavoured powder, and air to remove tough stains and leave your teeth feeling fresh and bright.

4 See your results

After your treatment, we’ll show you before-and-after photos so you can see just how thorough your cleaning was. This helps you visualise the impact of the treatment and the importance of ongoing oral care.

5 Personalised advice

You’ll receive tailored advice on maintaining healthy gums and teeth at home, with guidance on when to schedule future appointments.

Justine qualified in 2015 from King’s College London with a diploma in dental hygiene and therapy. Since joining our team in 2021, she has been dedicated to helping patients improve their oral health through a calm, thorough, and personalised approach.Passionate about preventing and stabilising gum disease, Justine also provides tailored oral health advice to help you maintain a healthy smile long-term.
